Hello, we are the Mayers.

We are a couple who are passionate about living a meaningful life filled with awesome relationships with real people, exploring new cultures/cities/countries in this huge yet small world, eating incredible food, and experiencing all the things that life has to offer.

A Love for Louisville

A Love for Louisville

In being together for almost 20 years, I finally had a conference in a location that Adam would LOVE to attend with me. Hello, Louisville Kentucky!

I was presenting at the ASPHO (The American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology) 2025 Conference on a panel of incredible Advanced Practice Providers, and Adam was more than happy to join and explore the city while I was conferences for many hours of each day for the week that we were there.

To save a little money, have a little quieter of an area, and have plenty of space to spread out and Adam be able to work, I booked us at the TownePlace Suites Louisville Downtown, and it was exactly what we wanted/needed. A convenient walk to both the conference center and all of downtown.

After checking in and getting ourselves settled, we ventured out for the evening and immediately jumped on the bourbon trails. We lucked into space for the Evan Williams experience, so we got started at their amazing bar while waiting for that, sharing a paper plane and bourbon sour.

Afterwards, we stopped at the Bardstown tasting room (a newer distillery on the scene) to share two flights.

The following day, after getting registered for the conference and configuring all of my speaker logistics, Adam and I met up for the AWESOME Old Forester tour, and it was my favorite of all of them with an actual cooper making and filling barrels. The tasting at the end of it introduced us to modjeskas, and Adam was obsessed. We connected with an awesome couple there, Aaron and Jessie, who were visiting from Ohio, that we went for drinks with afterwards and dinner later on in the week.

Bouncing in and out of the conference, I met up with Adam for an awesome lunch at Merle’s Whiskey Kitchen, and drinks at Angel’s Envy bar. While at the conference, Adam did the Rabbit Hole Distillery tour and brought us back an incredible dinner from La Bodeguita de Mima.

All of the days were speaking bouncing between all the conference for me and work for Adam, and all things exploring and experiencing this awesome little city. A surprising favorite was Shippingport Brewery with their AWESOME AWESOME beers (especially their Daisy If Ya Do strong ale & Mushroom Sour saison) and burritos (Carnitas & Chicken Shawarma)!!!!

Due to a terrible turn in the weather that detered everyone but us, we had a practically private tasting at Peerless Distillery, which ended up being our favorite bourbon of all those we experienced on the trip. Adam and the guide really connected such that he got invited to a free tour the following day and came home with all the bottles.

We really enjoyed an evening at the bar in Michter’s Distillery, sharing flights and cocktails, and had THE BEST server.

The confection that I had never experience before and became obsessed with was bourbon balls, so we picked up a few boxes for ourselves and to share from Art Eatables, and were SO pleased!
