Hello, we are the Mayers.

We are a couple who are passionate about living a meaningful life filled with awesome relationships with real people, exploring new cultures/cities/countries in this huge yet small world, eating incredible food, and experiencing all the things that life has to offer.

Life and such things...

What a week this has been!
My patient's funeral was yesterday, and it was SO HARD. Her parents had called me last week, and actually asked me to speak at her funeral...it was such an honor, but so emotionally difficult as well. But I made it through it, and everyone said my speech was wonderful...how could it not be, I was just telling them about this amazing little girl I came to know and love. Adam also went with me to the service, the absolutely amazing man that he is, and that helped SO much. He also knows the family, and her little sisters LOVE him! The service was truly a beautiful ceremony honoring and celebrating this all to short life.
I started clinical last week for my Health Assessment course in the Family Practice Clinic here at Tripler....and I LOVE IT! My preceptor is a Major in the Army, who loves to teach and is SO smart...keeps me on my toes, and know just how to push me. I was doing full on physical assessments and breast exams on my first day! It was AWESOME! It is definitely a nice relief from the hum-drum of online courses that are just plain boring. My clinicals only have to be 5 hours once a week, but he works 10 hour shifts, so I am going to do that too...maximize my time, only will help me in my independant practice.
Other than that, not too much going on...working a lot. Adam is keeping busy with work and spear-fishing as much as he can. I am very much looking forward to a quick trip to NH next month, can't wait to see my parents and family, since I have to fly to Philly for my midterm anyway.
Hope this finds everyone having a great week!
