Hello, we are the Mayers.

We are a couple who are passionate about living a meaningful life filled with awesome relationships with real people, exploring new cultures/cities/countries in this huge yet small world, eating incredible food, and experiencing all the things that life has to offer.

Busy Times...

Well this is definitely a new experience for us...it is November and it is currently 90 degrees outside. "Winter" here is wonderful for the most part. This past weekend was spent celebrating at a baby shower for a co-worker of mine, having friends over for dinner, and shark diving. So one of the interesting things about the Hawaiian winter is the fact that it is the "rainy" season, and man...IT RAINS. It started raining Saturday night, and it was one of the most awing things. We woke up at about midnight to rain pounding on the roof, and it continued like that ALL NIGHT. It was raining so hard you couldn't even see the house next door. So we woke up Sunday morning living in a moat...the yard was absolutely flooded, and the water was about an inch below the door frames. Luckily it didn't get any higher than that and flood the house...many people in our area were not so luckily. I was nervous to even leave the house Sunday for the shark dive in case the water went even higher, but we would have had to still pay the fee if we didn't go...so we went. It was awesome to see the sharks but I can't say that the experience was anything great.
Another tid bit of exciting news...my boss is looking to promote me to assistant head nurse, so I would be second in charge of the floor. She is actually out on bedrest this week for a bad back and I have been acting head nurse ...and people think I am doing a good job. What does this mean (besides more money...YAY!!)....I GET MY WEEKENDS BACK!!!!! Yeah, I am really excited about the prospects of that...we have to see how it works out, details and all, but I am excited.

Shark and the cage that protected us

The cage from an outside view, and the birds in the background stealing the fish chum being tossed in the water to attack the sharks
