That's right, I am now a Surfer Girl!!! Nora and I went down to Waikiki on Monday and took a lesson, and it went FANTASTIC!!!! Who would have thought that I could ever have to coordination to surf, but I stood up and rode the wave in on my SECOND try!!! It is THE MOST AMAZING FEELING IN THE WORLD!!!! I really think everyone should try it, Nora and I are hooked. She ended up standing up on her third try, and then ended up being the best one out of our group of four. I did really well, except we all know how excitable that I can be, so I would end up falling off my board halfway riding to shore because I was so happy to be standing and balancing, that I would start almost dancing with excitement. That and this one lady wiped me clean off my board running into me, giving me a nice lump on my forehead from her board smashing into me. It will be nice to graduate from the small waves of Waikiki to get away from all of the people, but that will take a while.
Nora and I also went to Chinatown afterwards, and it was kind of disappointing as well...the fruit and vegetable markets were cool, but other than that it was a lot of junk shops and tourist traps. That and the meat markets...the smell, and all that raw meat, and the live animals waiting...made me almost sick to my stomach, and I haven't really been able to eat meat since then.
We finally get internet out at the house tomorrow, so that will be nice....and everyone can start hearing from Adam as well.
Big surprise of the week...I am now running charge at work...ALREADY. A month in, and I am somehow periodically head of the floor...thankfully my coworkers are AWESOME and helping me with all of the stuff I don't know or the stuff I don't know I don't know...you know how that goes. I had my physical for my federal postition on Tuesday, so I should either be starting on Sept. 4th or 17th...depending on how my salary negotiations go.
And the best part of the week....OUR ONE YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY IS ON SUNDAY!!! I can't believe it has already been a year, it's definitely been an AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL year, and it's only going to get better! <3
