California Dreamin'

California Dreamin'

September 2024 to April 2025….it was time for a reunion of our Abu Dhabi crew, and what better occassion than to celebrate with a baby shower?!?!? Our beloved Allison was expecting a baby girl, and we ventured out for a week to relax, help, and celebrate. We were spoiled by staying with Allison and Leo (my second trip within a month and their new home), and enjoyed the gorgeous California days and all things walking Frankie while they (and Adam) worked.

Elena and Johan joined us in staying at the house, and Micah locally 36 hours later, and it was just a full days and evenings of being with each other. The mornings conveined in the kitchen with me and Johan spearheading breakfast, activities to help finish up and prepare the nursery (shelf-hanging, blind installation, etc), getting all the supplies for a large co-ed baby shower, and sprinkled in other fun California activities.

Thursday evening, Allison organize dinner out at The Dead Fish on the Bay to lay slaughter all things crab, and the company, views, and food was incredible.

Friday we ventured to Fieldwork Brewery where Adam and I shared the tastiest flights, and the table shared wings, giant pretzels, small pizzas, and wraps. Seriously, this place was awesome for a large group, and we would definitely go back for the beer….with their range of sours, stouts, and IPAs.

Saturday was all hands on deck to get ready for the party: Decoration hung, favors organized, food organized, and Adam and Micah absolutely loved having to take Leo’s Jeep and be responsible for going to get the whole roasted pig! Once people started showing up, it was time to settle in and have a relaxing afternoon celebrating Allison and Leo, and Baby Girl. It was an absolutely picturesque day!

Sunday was a quick clean up before taking a moderate hike in Danville, stretching everyone’s legs before the travel.

By noon, everyone but us were gone, and Allison had scored us tickets to TedXStanford, where I was excited to see one of my favorite authors (Amy Wong) speak!

The perfection of the day and weekend was topped of by a gelato stop, before a relaxing but short but final evening together…due to an 0230 wake up for an 0505 flight!
