Hello, we are the Mayers.

We are a couple who are passionate about living a meaningful life filled with awesome relationships with real people, exploring new cultures/cities/countries in this huge yet small world, eating incredible food, and experiencing all the things that life has to offer.

The Holidays are Here!

Well November has come and gone, and here we are in December...the holiday season and the end of 2011. This has been a quickly passing year! November was a pretty quiet month for us as Adam was gone for most of it to Abu Dhabi and camp. I kept myself busy with photo organization (have you ever tried to organize ALL of your digital photographs?!?!? Try it...it is a daunting task!), Christmas shopping (I know, already a fail, as I am typically done by Halloween!), and LOTS of amazing family time! Our Baltimore crew also celebrated Thanksgiving early by having a traditional potluck dinner the Sunday before the holiday and we all went our separate ways. This was our tradition in Hawaii, as people typically saved their trips to the mainland for the Christmas holiday instead of Thanksgiving.
Adam was in Abu Dhabi for two weeks prior to Thanksgiving, and was flying into Pittsburgh for his brother to give him a ride home for Thanksgiving...well, I missed him too much to wait the extra 6 hours for them to get to Johnstown, so I ended up picking him up! YAY for seeing a husband. That and I was trying to maximize time together since he was leaving for camp 36 hours after that...
Thanksgiving Eve night was spent at the Adams' family abode enjoying family and relaxation, and Adam starting his battle with jet lag. Thanksgiving Day was awesomely celebrated by TWO turkey feasts: one with the Hagerich's and the other at the Mayer household. Have I mentioned how it is my FAVORITE meal of the year?!?!!? The men all departed for camp the morning of Black Friday, and Dar and I set out to accomplish some Christmas shopping! I am kind of glad that the Black Friday deals started Thanksgiving evening because by the time we got out there to shop, everyone else was done and home sleeping. After that we met some friends out for dinner and girlie drinks! With the boys away, the girls shall play! Haha...
Saturday was spent organizing for the now annual Mayer Girl sleepover, where all the female Adams' family members come over for pizza and good times. The original goal was to sort through and disperse family pictures...but honestly, we never even got to that this year! There was a lot of talking, eating, games, and Wii dance...until 1 in the morning :) Fantastically awesome times! Adam's side of the family is definitely a little nutty ;) in an awesome kind of way!
I departed Johnstown that Sunday morning to head back to Baltimore as I was flying out to spent the week with my side of the family bright and early Monday morning! NH BOUND! It was a terrific time spent with my amazing parents, and hanging out with old friends and family...it is always SO nice to catch up, and relax. And I got to spend time with our kitty Maia (who acts like she doesn't know me anymore) and eat lots of my mom's soup. Seriously, my mother makes THE MOST AMAZING soup in the world...I drive my dad nuts because I will eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...and not want what he wants to cook. He likes to cook. This soup though...it's like crack...and puts Panera to shame...and we all know about my obsession with Panera...yeah, it's that awesome! And no, I don't share.
Ahhh, and now we are back in Baltimore. Adam finally came home yesterday after 26 days away and everything is coming back together.
I hope this finds everyone having a blessed and enjoyable holiday season...enjoying the warmth and love of those most important to you, and recognizing the true meaning of these times!
