Hello, we are the Mayers.

We are a couple who are passionate about living a meaningful life filled with awesome relationships with real people, exploring new cultures/cities/countries in this huge yet small world, eating incredible food, and experiencing all the things that life has to offer.

A Fall Hike

We had the pleasure of some friends from Cleveland, Shawna and Jeremy, join us over a long weekend for fun and festivities. They are both doctors in the Emergency Medicine residency, so we are lucky that they were able to get time away to come play. Adam has known Shawna since his Johnstown days, and the 4 of us are like peas in a pod! Jeremy lived here before, and spoiled us by showing us around the city...yes we live here, but we don't go out "there" much...like stated previously, we like the convenience of walking to our outings.
Unfortunately Adam had to work 2 of the days that they were here, but I was lucky enough to get shown around. One of the places that Jeremy took us was this hiking area north of the city that is a "Rails to Trails" conversion area...and we could not have asked for a better day to hike around. Unfortunately (for Jeremy), on our return hike to the car we came across two garter snakes on the trails. Mind you these things were no more than 12-18 inches long or larger around than a pencil...but the way that Shawna and I were freaking out you would have though they were 20-foot pythons with fangs out to kill us. It took about 10 minutes of psyching out and encouragement to get the two of us past the snakes (since they wouldn't move). It was ridiculous...hilarious in hind-sight, but embarrassing at the time. Two full grown women with biology degrees and sound-mind losing our sh*t with two little harmless snakes... Jeremy was in shock of us, and you could see him trying to figure out what to do (since we were refusing to carry on forward and there was no going back), and how to explain to Adam why he returned without us girls.
See the rail?

A gorgeous hike!
