Hello, we are the Mayers.

We are a couple who are passionate about living a meaningful life filled with awesome relationships with real people, exploring new cultures/cities/countries in this huge yet small world, eating incredible food, and experiencing all the things that life has to offer.

Big Island Trip

We spent an AMAZING 3 days all over the Big Island...visiting Volcanoes National Park, Mauna Kea for the sunset and stargazing, and just exploring the beautiful island and enjoying all that it had to offer. Here are some pictures to enjoy....

Lava Tree State Park

I love trees in the tropics!

Lava field on the way to Puna

This marks the beginning of my lava obsession

Fresh water pond fed through lava tubes from the volcano, next to the ocean at Isaac Hale State Beach

Adam enjoying the scenery

Volcanoes National Park: Kilauea Caldera

That is not mud....different types of lava

This lava is sharp, shiny, and light as a feather

Going down Chain of Craters Road

They had to re-do the road after the eruption and lava took it out

Isn't it amazing!??!?

Ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs

Only winery on the island, and it was a good one

We did a 4 mile hike through Kilauea Caldera, right across the crater

This steam is coming up from the lava vents underneath underneath the crater we were walking across...they told us it was safe

Thurston Lava Tube #1....the one that was lit

I have no idea how our camera took such an awesome picture

Thurston Lava Tube #2...the one that was not lit, and 1/4 mile long

Mauna Kea....offering alter

'Silver sword' only grows at extreme elevation....say, the top of Mauna Kea

Mauna Kea is surrounded by ranch land

The Mauna Kea area where we stargazed: saw awesome views of the moon, Saturn, and a bajllion stars!

The top of Mauna Kea....yes, that is snow, in May, in Hawaii

It was cold enough for a snow man....20 degrees

The sunsetting on Mauna Kea behind the observatories

The road to Waimea

Akaka Falls

Nene goose....the bird of the Big Island
