We spent an AMAZING 3 days all over the Big Island...visiting Volcanoes National Park, Mauna Kea for the sunset and stargazing, and just exploring the beautiful island and enjoying all that it had to offer. Here are some pictures to enjoy....

Volcanoes National Park: Kilauea Caldera |
That is not mud....different types of lava |
This lava is sharp, shiny, and light as a feather |
Going down Chain of Craters Road |
They had to re-do the road after the eruption and lava took it out |
Isn't it amazing!??!? |
Ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs |
Only winery on the island, and it was a good one |
We did a 4 mile hike through Kilauea Caldera, right across the crater |
This steam is coming up from the lava vents underneath underneath the crater we were walking across...they told us it was safe |
Thurston Lava Tube #1....the one that was lit |
I have no idea how our camera took such an awesome picture |
Thurston Lava Tube #2...the one that was not lit, and 1/4 mile long |

The top of Mauna Kea....yes, that is snow, in May, in Hawaii |
It was cold enough for a snow man....20 degrees |
