Hello, we are the Mayers.

We are a couple who are passionate about living a meaningful life filled with awesome relationships with real people, exploring new cultures/cities/countries in this huge yet small world, eating incredible food, and experiencing all the things that life has to offer.

We are ALIVE!!!

>Yes...it's true! We are still alive, and doing *GREAT*. I realize that there has been some serious slacking on the blog, but there was also a serious lack of time too...but all of that has changed!
Things have changed A LOT here in the past month, and all for the good. I have FINISHED my Master's!!! That is by far the greatest news...and I get to see my husband on a daily basis! Turns out that I was first in my class (for the entire Master's program) and my research thesis won top commendation, so that was nice. I worked really hard, and it is REALLY nice to see that effort, time, and sleeplessness recognized. A lot was sacrificed to accomplish this goal, mainly time with my amazing husband, so knowing that I did so well helps.
Also, big news, I have already started a new job. I was hired pre-emptively into a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Nurse role because they really wanted me, so I started about 3 weeks ago. It is really going well, scary as heck, and a ton to learn, but I am already LOVING it. My primary role is the case manager for all of the pediatric oncology cases: making sure chemo is ordered for the right date, giving chemo, doing and running labs, managing symptoms, and all sorts of stuff. I didn't know if I would have the heart to do oncology after losing my two patients two years ago, but everything has led me to this point, and it is amazing. And once I actually pass my boards (fingers crossed, I will take them in October), I get to see patients in the Adolescent Clinic. That clinic is where I did my primary clinicals, and I don't know who is more excited to have me working there (part time, with the other time with the oncology side)...me or the two doctors. It is really nice to have such amazing support!
With the new job came new hours, working the same hours as Adam...no night, no weekends, no holidays, so we get to see each other all of the time now...and it is *AMAZING*!!! We actually carpool every day together too! We are probably going to get rid of his car, due to not really using the second vehicle, and just save that money and expense on the environment. Also...have to make space for the new JETSKI! Hell yeah! We should be getting it in the next couple of weeks!!!
My parents get here next week for two weeks, and it is the first break I will have had since we went to PA/NH in October 2008!!!! Then we will be heading back to PA/NH in Nov/Dec. It is going to be so nice to see all of our family and friends. There has been a lot of health issues with many of our loved ones lately, and it has been very difficult to be so far from home.
Ok...now time for some picts!
